Working with and for older people in Ealing
Age Concern EalingAge Concern Ealing is here to help with a range of services that can assist older people during cold spells:
If you can’t afford to heat your home for the whole day, coming along to one of our Social Centres is a great way of keeping warm and making friends at the same time. Every lunchtime we serve a freshly cooked, nutritious meal.
Fallsafe helps prevent the admission of older people to hospitals as a result of falls. We visit older people in their homes to offer a home safety assessment to identify tripping and slipping hazards and arrange to get any remedial works completed.
We offer telephone support calls to provide encouragement and support to older people who have experienced a life event which has reduced confidence and motivation such as illness, bereavement, hospital admission or a fall. This service is targeted at older people who have minimal family or community support.
Our team of Benefits Advisers will advise you on your entitlement to welfare benefits and assist you with making benefit claims. They can help you to fill in any claim forms. Please see the Welfare Benefits Take-Up Campaign page for more details.
If you receive Pension Credit, you are automatically paid an extra cold weather payment when the temperature is at freezing or below for seven days in a row. Make sure you claim all benefits you are entitled to. Contact us to arrange a benefits check.
Most people aged 60 and over are entitled to the Winter Fuel Payment to help with heating costs. Previous recipients should get the payment automatically but if you have not been eligible before‚ contact us for further assistance.
