INFORMATION & ADVICE

General Information & Advice

We provide free, independent and confidential advice and information on issues relating to older people and their carers. We can assist with a wide range of problems, particularly in the areas of benefits and pensions, housing, health and community care. We will signpost you on to other specialist agencies if we think they will be better able to provide the information you are seeking or help you resolve your problem. We also keep a comprehensive and up to date stock of factsheets and booklets on popular subjects.

Housing

Shelter runs a fortnightly appointment based surgery on Tuesday afternoons for older people seeking specialist housing advice on problems with landlords, overcrowding and homelessness. They will provide information, advice and advocacy.
